The mission of the West Stockbridge Historical Society is to preserve and promote the history and culture of West Stockbridge and the surrounding area through research, programming, and community involvement.
Through the generous support of our members and donors, the West Stockbridge Historical Society is restoring the 1854 Old Town Hall to provide a focal point within the community for a wide range of cultural programs. The Old Town Hall was in times past a site for community business and events and we are proud to be carrying on this tradition.

Did you know that one of the founders of Howard University was a West Stockbridge resident? This is just one of many examples of the rich and interesting history of West Stockbridge.
The Historical Society offers a wide range of programs designed to open the doors to our town’s past as well as celebrate all that is new and vital in the region today.
The West Stockbridge Chamber Players have been performing benefit concerts for the West Stockbridge Historical Society since 2010.
Led by clarinetist Catherine Hudgins, the Chamber Players’ artistic director, the group is made up of Boston- and Berkshire-based musicians who regularly perform with the Boston Symphony, Boston Pops, Spoleto Festival, and Portland Symphony, and who teach at the Tanglewood Music Center.
The Berkshires has a long history with jazz and our popular jazz series continues that tradition by bringing top local and regional jazz musicians to our Old Town Hall for concerts covering a wide range of jazz genres.
Throughout the year we invite artists, authors, historians, and other interesting speakers to share their expertise about a wide range of topics regarding local history, current affairs, natural history and more.
